Kjarsta Anne Beckett 1979 2019

1979 2019
Obituary of Kjarsta Anne Beckett On September 24, 2019 – surrounded by her husband Kristian and the love of her family – Kjarsta Anne Beckett passed into the eternal arms of her Heavenly Father after a heroic fight against an aggressive brain tumor. Kjarsta blessed the world with 6 beautiful children – Rosalie (9), Warren (8), Samuel (5), William (4), Thomas (2), and Lucile (1) – who each carry with them the compassion, creativity, and faith they learned from her selfless life of service. Whether she was giving food to the homeless, providing counsel to the distraught, or comfort to those who needed someone to listen without judgement – her children witnessed the best of humanity through her kindness. On the first day of Spring in 1979, she entered this earthly life in Calgary, Alberta Canada to her parents, Bruce and Lori Salmon. As the oldest of nine children – Rachel, Emily, Kathryn, Robert, Spencer, Hannah, Claire, and James – she quickly learned the values of leadership, cooperation, and caregiving that would be the foundation for her life. Starting at the French immersion kindergarten and continuing all the way through her Master of Social Work at Brigham Young University, in Provo Utah, Kjarsta nurtured her love of learning and instilled in her children the same desire – each growing to love reading and telling stories just like their mom. Service and compassion were key hallmarks of her life. She found many ways to manifest her deep desire to help others. While at University, Kjarsta worked at the Utah State Mental Hospital leading group therapy, and later using the skills gained from her advanced degree in social work leading troubled youth on empowering backpacking trips through the wild mountains of Utah – through her service she has transformed hundreds of hearts through her endless compassion. Kjarsta’s love of music is a beautiful legacy she has also left to her children. She loved music and singing. Whether at home, church, or out in the neighborhood on walks with her kids she had a song in her heart for all to hear. That love for music, theatrics, singing, dancing, and orchestrating family skits were best seen at family reunions and birthday celebrations – where she could bring everyone together with a song. Her love of serving others was deeply rooted in her faith and unwavering testimony in Jesus Christ. She committed her life to following his example of unconditional love and shared the gospel through quiet dignity, and acts of kindness. She was called to serve as a missionary in London, England for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she bore witness to the eternal plan of Happiness and taught her most-cherished belief – that families can be together forever. Meeting her husband, Kristian Beckett, and marrying him in the San Diego Temple in 2009 laid the keystone of her forever family – the joy of her heart. Grounded in her faith, she knew there were 6 beautiful children waiting to join her – and she was willing to risk everything to ensure that each of them had their chance to be a part of her family. Hand-in-hand with her husband she built a loving home for her children no matter where life took them. From the heart of Washington to the valleys of Idaho. Everywhere they lived Kjarsta created a home for her children filled with joy, warmth, and unconditional love. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday October 4th at 1:30 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 10115 172nd Avenue NW, Redmond WA.
