John’s Obituary John Jenkins Owens, Jr. a longtime Cushing resident passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at his home in Cushing at the age of 78. Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm on 10/22/19 at Lawson Cemetery, Cushing, OK. Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Ok. John was born on January 18, 1941 in Cushing, Oklahoma to John and Vivian (Farris) Owens. He grew up in Cushing, graduating from Cushing High School in 1959. John joined the National Guard, serving his country for several years. He married Bessie Thomas in March of 1965. They adopted their only daughter Jill. John was a very good chef, he cooked and bartended for Brownfields in 1985. He managed the concrete yard in Mannford and later drove a truck hauling cars. He loved to fish and golf, eating out breakfast in the mornings was the highlight of his day. John was a man of his word and had lots of friends. John is survived by his daughter Jill Todd and James Ward of Cushing, brother Eddie Owens and wife Michelle of Ramona, grandchildren Christa Todd of Surprise, Az., and Amanda Schroeder and husband Jacob of Yale, great grandsons Sutton and Tanner and several nieces and nephews.
