Joe Howard Hunter, age 67, of Puryear and formerly of Springfield, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 14, 2019 at 12pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield. Burial will follow in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 10am until the hour of service at 12Noon. Mr. Hunter was born April 21, 1952 in Springfield to the late Mr. Carlton C. Hunter and Mrs. Nellie Ruth Bayliss Hunter. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and worked at DuPont. He loved to fish and was an avid UT Vols and Atlanta Braves fan. In addition to his mother Mr. Hunter is survived by his sons, JoJo (Sherika) Hunter of Springfield, Justin Hunter of Springfield and Jo Nathan Hunter of Old Hickory; sister, Deborah (Dale) Leftwich of Hendersonville; and grandchildren, Jaylen Hunter, Anna Hunter and Alicia Hunter. If so desired memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association. Any donations may be sent in c/o Austin & Bell.
