Jerry Donald Davis, age 70 of Jefferson passed away on Tuesday at his home. Mr. Davis was born on March 16, 1949 in Ashe County to Rev. John Henry Davis and Winnie Barker Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Melissa Davis Miller; a son, Doug Davis; brothers, James Garland Davis and John Cordell Davis; and a sister, Evaline Watson. Mr. Davis enjoyed fishing and hunting. He liked to cook and worked at the Coffee House. He had a great sense of humor and liked to laugh. Mr. Davis is survived by: son, Jimmy Davis and wife Cora of West Jefferson; daughter, Sherry Davis of West Jefferson; two sisters, Winnie Davis Pugh of Grassy Creek and Marie Shear of Knoxville, TN; brother, Norman Davis of Statesville; grandchild, Christopher Miller; also surviving are several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family in care of Ashelawn Memorial Chapel, 3470 US Highway 221 North, Jefferson, NC 28640.
