Obituary for Jane Cheatham Jane M. Strange Cheatham 87, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2017 in Memphis, TN. Jane was born on May, 10 1930 in Fulton Kentucky to John Wayne Meacham and Nancy Jane Meacham. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Hazel M. Cowin Matthai. Jane taught math in the Memphis City Schools as well as ECS for over 40 years. She was also a part time instructor at State Tech and part time real estate agent. In that time, Jane not only taught her students about math, she inspired and encouraged each one to strive to reach their potential. Jane was the type of teacher we all wished we had, one that made learning fun and challenged all to be the best they could be. In her time away from teaching, Jane loved to travel. She managed to visit all 50 states as well as parts of Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico making friends along the way. Jane is survived by a daughter Lisette ( Jerry ), 3 grandchildren Tina Bell ( Jason), Kevin Phelan ( Christine ), Drew Widmer, 2 great grandchildren Will Bell and Matthew Phelan, as well as nieces , great nieces and great nephews, and two very special caregivers-Detra and Elizabeth. Jane had a big impact on all our lives and will always be remembered in our hearts and minds!! We love you!! Order Flowers
