Isabella (Sylvia) Gonsalves, 90, of Fairhaven, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2019, after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Donald J. “Bucky” Gonsalves. Born and raised in New Bedford, daughter of the late Edward F. and Mary Gloria (Cabral) Sylvia, she settled in Fairhaven in 1966. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, Fairhaven. A homemaker, Isabella enjoyed traveling, needlepoint, going to the casino, spending time with her family and friends, but especially enjoyed her time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Ciccone and her husband Richard of Fairhaven; three grandchildren, Elizabeth C.W. Gonsalves, Emily M.W. Gonsalves and Matthew J. White; two great grandchildren, Harper A. White and Deacon White; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Gonsalves was the mother of the late Glenn J. Gonsalves and sister of the late Rose Correia, Lillian Cruz, Alice Hoover and Mary Martin. A private service will be held Thursday, at 10am in the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Fairhaven, followed by interment in St. John Cemetery, New Bedford.
