Helen’s Obituary Helen Margaret Bettis Reed, 86, of Winchester, Virginia, died Monday, October 21, 2019 at her home. Mrs. Reed was born February 3, 1933 in Purcellville, Virginia, the daughter of the late Mervin William Bettis and Alice Marie Cooper Bettis. She was a housekeeper. She was a member of the Berryville Moose Lodge. She married John William Reed, Sr. on September 30, 1953 in Maryland. Mr. Reed died November 19, 1993. Surviving are three sons, John William Reed, Jr. of Winchester, VA, James Franklin Reed of Bunker Hill, WV, and Robert Lynn Reed (Lesa) of Middleburg, VA; three daughters, Joan Elizabeth Reed (Oscar Bettis) of Kearneysville, WV, Evelyn Jane Reed of Middleburg, VA, and Diane June Reed of Upperville, VA; fourteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Two sons, Charles Lee Bettis and Stanley Clay Reed, preceded her in death. A graveside service will be held 3:00 P. M. Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Goose Creek Burying Ground, Purcellville, VA.
