Elliot’s Obituary Obituary Elliot Taquena, 78 Elliot Taquena (Taquaynah), 78, of Fort Hall, passed away, Saturday, October 26, 2019 at his home. Elliot was born to Joseph Taquena and Sylvia Tahvingo Taquena. Elliot enjoyed his independence, choosing to remain in his residence. When asked to live with his half brother, Bill Matte, Elliot declined, choosing to live as a strong individual sharing stories and concerns with his friends and community members. Elliot could be seen at many tribal annual meetings, where he might voice his concerns on behalf of the elderly and people young and old in the Indian community. Elliot enjoyed embarking on road trips to tribal reunions held throughout Indian country. Elliot is survived by his brother, Bill Matte. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Theron Taquena and Rose Taquena. A commemoration of Elliot’s life will be held from 11:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 1, 2019 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S Shilling Ave in Blackfoot.
