There was a glorious homecoming as Denise Gayle Shamas O’Neal Gardner, 67, departed her earthly life on October 10, 2019. Born on September 9, 1952 to Joseph Shamas, Jr and JoAnn Arrington in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Denise graduated high school in 1971. Graveside Services were held in Sanger on October 12, 2019 and a Memorial Service will be on October 15, 2019, 1:00 PM at Gateway Church, Southlake, Texas. Denise made her home in Bedford, Texas, after living many of her adult years in Roswell, New Mexico, and Orlando, Florida. She lived life with great passion shown through – her strong and sure faith in God, Jesus and the Bible; her dedication to her family and friends and her unwavering fight for health and against sickness. Before retiring, Denise was a Flight Attendant with Southwest Airlines for 11 years. She flourished in her position with SW and was blessed by the company and many friends she made there. Tirelessly dedicated to her family, Denise’s greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. “Nana” will be greatly missed! Mother, sisters and brothers were a very important part of her life. The care and love shown by her entire family throughout the last years of her life were priceless to her. The impact of a life well-lived can easily be seen in the many people that are honored to call Denise, “Friend!” Preceding Denise in death were daughter: Jill Georgeanne Gardner; father: Joseph Shamas, Jr; Mamo, Bonnie Lucille Moody Arrington; Papo, Thomas Reid Arrington; Uncles: Thomas Reid Arrington and Clarence Earl Ashcraft. Surviving to treasure and cherish Denise’s memory are mother: JoAnn O’Neal, Albuquerque, NM; daughter: Ashley Faith Boss (Jesse) of Pearland, TX; sons: Christopher Ryan Gardner (Courtney) of New Braunfels, TX and Ty Ryan Gardner (Charity) of Amarillo, TX; grandchildren: Austin Ryan Gardner, Cassidy Ann Gardner, Jaxton Stone Gardner, London Gray Gardner, Haileyanna Pearl Gardner, Barrett Daniel Boss and Tinsley Rae Boss; sisters: Bonnie Berry, Calleen Rainey and Patsy Spellman; brothers: Greg Shamas, Phillip Shamas and Mike O’Neal. “Well done good and faithful servant!” To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Denise Gayle Shamas O’Neal Gardner please visit our Sympathy Store.
