Hamlet, NC David L. Rohde Sr., 81, died Wednesday, October 9, 2019. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, he was the son of the late John T. and Alice C. Triplett Rohde. He was a retired US Navy veteran, member of the VFW and American Legion. He also was a member of St. David’s Church. He enjoyed being a grits mill operator, and working in the grape vineyard. He loved to drive a tractor and work on his gun collection. Surviving is his wife, Vilma S. Rohde of the home, sons, David Rohde Jr. of Cheraw, SC, Michael Rohde of Levittown, PA, Dennis Rohde of Hamlet, NC, daughters, Catherine Moran of Levittown, PA, Martha Weisser of Levittown, PA, sisters, Katie and Gloria, 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents listed above, a son, John Rohde and one great-grandchild. The family will receive friends 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, Sunday, October 13, 2019 at Old St. David’s Church, Cheraw, SC. A funeral service will be held 3:30 PM, Sunday, October 13, 2019 at Old St. David’s Church, Cheraw, SC. Memorials to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
