Carol P Holmstrom 2019

Carol P. Holmstrom, 83, of Green Bay passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Bellin Hospital. Carol was born April 22, 1936 in Joliet, Illinois to David and Esther Anderson. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Joliet. In 1954 she graduated from Joliet Township High School. In 1957 she graduated from the Silver Cross Hospital School of Nursing and in 1959 graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Nursing. Carol worked for 40 years as a nurse, mainly in nursing education. During her nursing career she worked at Silver Cross Hospital School of Nursing, Grace Hospital Northwest in Detroit, Michigan, Moline Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Moline, Ill., Francis A. Bell Hospital in Ishpeming, Michigan, Northland Lutheran Retirement Community (formerly Luther Home) in Marinette, Wisconsin and as a Nursing Assistant Instructor for Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in Marinette. Becoming a nurse was a natural fit for Carol, as she was a very compassionate person. She cared for and about people and their well-being throughout her life. On June 18, 1960 she married Paul E. Holmstrom. The joy of her life was her husband, her children and her grandchildren. Throughout the years of her husband’s ministry in the Lutheran Church Carol enjoyed active involvement in church activities. She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Paul Holmstrom; three daughters and their families, Marcia (Keith) Nowicki of Green Bay and son, Owen of Minneapolis, Minn.; Janet (John) Littig of Cincinnati, Ohio and son, Matthew of Seattle, Wash. and daughter, Elise of Cincinnati; and daughter, Julie (Clint) Frerichs and children, Lela, Grant, Melina, Brita, Andrea, Eli and Emelia, of Stanton, Neb.; sisters, Elna Anderson of Joliet, Ill. and Karen (Tom) Sedlacek of Anchorage, Alaska; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ruth and the Rev. George Olson of Marinette; and brother-in-law, Rev. Alan Lindberg of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents David and Esther Anderson; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law Harold and Ruby Holmstrom; and sisters Leona, Leota, and Sandy Anderson, and Jane Lindberg. Visitation will be on Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 12 noon until 1:45 p.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church, 2911 Libal St., Green Bay. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with the Revs. Lori and Luther Swenson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Marinette. Memorial donations in memory of Carol may be made to Ascension Lutheran Church in Green Bay or to Zion Lutheran Church in Marinette. Hansen-Onion-Martell funeral home, Marinette, is assisting the family.
