Jackson April 19, 1935 – October 20, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation Billy Gene Jackson was born on April 19, 1935 to the parents of Eddie Mae and Levoda Jackson in Troup, Texas.Billy was the fourth of nine children. He accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. He graduated from Arp High School in Arp, Texas. He moved to Houston, Texas to further his education in 1954,where he attended Texas Southern University. He met his best friend and the love of his life;Ollie Catherine Broussard,while attending Texas Southern University. In June of 1958 they were united in holy matrimony. To this union six lovely children were born. In total,he has even children and raised three nephews.He united with Lily Grove in the early seventies where he became a Deacon under the leadership of Willie E. Powell. Later,he became a member of Greater Mount Carmel MBC and served as the Chairman of the Deacon Board for 18 years; until he accepted his calling to the ministry. He became an Ordained Minister on December 16, 2001. During his many years of ministering he also taught many, counseled numerous, encouraged several, helped limitless, married an abundance of couples and was a father figure to countless individuals.He also enjoyed hunting, fishing,bowling, playing cards, dominoes and spending time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and the many children that adopted him as a father and papa.He worked at Dentler Maid Potato Chip and he retired from Grocers Supply after many years. He also was a member of the Teamsters and a Grand Lodge Mason.He is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Ollie, three brothers: James, Robert & Benjamin and one grandson Willie. Billy leaves to cherish his memories to his devoted children: Cynthia (Arthur),Shari Bernadette (Charles),Gary, Yvonne (Jerald), Wanda, Cassandra (Carvin),Eddina, Hayvard, Juan(Charlene)and Joseph(Robin). His siblings,Oscar (Margaret), Lorenzo, Mary, Levearl (Sheila),Emmerson (Doris) and 14 grandchildren,18 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
