Betty’s Obituary Betty Eileen Scalfano celebrated her 90th birthday this year at a birthday bash with family and friends, her sister, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. On October 28, 2019 she went on to be with our Lord and continued the celebration with her husband, sister, and so many wonderful friends. Betty was a joy to all who knew her. She spent her childhood in Maine, working in the textile mill and made a better life for herself by going to nursing school. Throughout her life she has been a devoted military wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her generosity was famous as she saw every birthday and holiday as a chance to gift those in her life and even those she had just met. She loved being out in the country and during the last few years of her life was able to live out her dream of country living when she moved with her family to a ranch in Aubrey, TX. Her gracious manor, generous spirit, and sharp wit will be greatly missed but her legacy will live on in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who exhibit so many of her fine qualities. Betty is survived by her two sons, Dr. Gary Scalfano and wife Laura of Aubrey, TX and Dr. Frank Scalfano, Jr. and wife Melanie of Huntsville, AL; daughter, Tracey Scalfano Witt of Pace, FL, daughter-in-law, Leslie Scalfano; twelve grandchildren, Alex, Jason, Perry, Elena, Sydney (and husband Damon), Logan, Christen, Georgia, Emma, Erin, Collin, and Hayley; three great-grandchildren, Peyton, Joseph, and Reese Bair; and sister Beverly Woolverton of Redlands, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Elizabeth; husband, Frank; and sister, Shirley O’Donnell. Services will be held at St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Plano, TX on Friday, November 1, 2019. Visitation will be held at 10:15AM, and a service at 11:00AM. She will be buried next her husband, Lt. Col. Frank P. Scalfano (USAF) in Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola FL on Monday, November 4th at 2:00PM. Online condolences may be shared at www.slaymemorialfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Terri Slay and Slay Memorial Funeral Center. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Betty Scalfano Scholarship for Nursing, funded through St. Andrew UMC.
