Obituary for Al Hammer, III Albert Frederick Hammer III, 66, died March 20, 2014, after a long illness. Funeral Mass will be Friday, March 28 at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where he was a 25-year member, followed by a reception in the Family Room. Burial will be at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill-Irene Rd. Mr. Hammer, the longtime owner of Good Earth Tree Service, was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran who served in Vietnam. He leaves a daughter, Elizabeth Hammer (fiancé Thomas Cook) of Charlotte, NC, two sons, Albert Hammer, IV (Charlotte) and Daniel Hammer (Lindsey) of Memphis, and grandsons, Caleb Hammer and Nick Hattley. He also leaves two sisters, Candice Huebner (Roger) of Bryan, TX and Cynthia Savageau of Memphis, and two brothers, Michael Hammer of Collierville and Noel Hammer (Bunny) of Byhalia, MS, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Albert F. Hammer, and three brothers, Lawrence Hammer, Brian Hammer, and Timothy Hammer. Memorials may be sent to the Holy Rosary Catholic School Scholarship Fund, Holy Rosary Catholic Church’s St. Vincent de Paul food pantry, both at 4851 Park Ave., Memphis, TN 38117, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
