A celebration of the life of Abel Cardenas, Jr., 60, of Lubbock, Texas will be 2:00 PM Wednesday,October 16, 2019 in Sanders Memorial Chapel with Pastor Raymond Garcia officiating. Graveside services will follow in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park. Viewing will 9:00 AM to 8:30 PM Tuesday, 15th of October, 2019 at Sanders Funeral Home with a prayer service beginning at 7 pm. He was born August 17, 1959 in Crystal City, TX to Abel Cardenas, Sr. and Francisca Cardenas. He graduated from Lubbock High School in 1977. Abel married Celia Ramirez on November 1, 1980. He worked for Plains Coop Oil Mill for eighteen years. Abel attended El Rey Ya Viene Pentecostal Church. Loved ones include wife, Celia Cardenas; son Abel Cardenas, III (Sylvia); son Cody Cardenas (Tina); daughter Crystal Cardenas; daughter, Reanna Perez; daughter, Michelle Ramirez; brother, Eddie Ybarra of Grand Island, NE; sister, Francisca Hernandez of Weatherford, TX; sixteen grandchildren. Abel loved his country; in his youth he played baseball and he continued this passion as a coach for his children’s teams and later through softball. He also enjoyed his time as a youth football league coach. He loved spending time with his family (especially his grandchildren).
