Gibsonville – David Brooks, 94, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Brookdale Assisted Living. A native of Boston, MA, he was born October 12, 1924 to the late Samuel and Sarah Brooks and was the husband of 56 years to Peggy Dean Brooks, also of Brookdale. David was a decorated US Army WWII Veteran. He was recognized with a Purple Heart and 3 Bronze Service Stars among many others. He was a member of the VFW for over 30 years and was employed for over 60 years as a Contract Engineer for several Industrial, Aerospace and Nuclear industries. Survivors include his wife, Peggy; daughter, Sheila Moore and husband Ed; three grandchildren, four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers. A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Phillips Chapel UMC Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
