Claude Elmer “C.E.” Gillespie, Jr.87, of Brevard, died on September 16, 2019 at Transylvania Regional Hospital. He was a native of Transylvania County born on September 30, 1931. He was the son of the late Claude Elmer and Norma Estelle Brittain Gillespie. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his grandson Joseph Gillespie; sisters Reba King, Cornelia Amick, Zandra Lance, Edith Jo Gillespie, and Mildred Taylor and brothers Johnny Gillespie, Joe Gillespie, and Alvin Gillespie. He is survived by wife of 65 years, Mary Meece Gillespie;p their son Jimmy and wife Kathy of Travelers Rest, SC; grandchildren Robbie Gillespie, Charissa Gillespie, Kimberly Sizemore, and Mary Katherine Sizemore; sister Victoria Trent of Brevard, NC. He laid block and brick all over Transylvania County and then went on to work for DuPont were he retired. He was a member of Glady Branch Baptist Church. His favorite hobby was to trout and Muskie fish as well as squirrel hunting. Funeral Services for C.E. Gillespie will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, September 20, 2019, at Moore-Blanchard Funerals & Cremations with Rev. Allen Thompson officiating.
