Aldor’s Obituary A Celebration of Life service will be held for Aldor H. Rose, 91, of Fairmont, MN, 11:00 a.m. October 12, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Welcome, MN. Burial will be in the Welcome City Cemetery. Visitation will take place 5:00 p.m .to 8:00 p.m., October 11, 2019 at Lakeview Funeral Home, Fairmont, MN. Aldor passed from this earth into God’s glory in heaven on Wednesday morning, September 25, 2019 and is reunited, once again, with his beloved wife DeElda. He died from complications of a stroke at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center, where he had been a resident since July of this year. Aldor Henry Rose was born April 20, 1928 to Henry and Sophia Rose in Welcome, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed in Trinity Lutheran Church. Aldor was raised in Welcome, the oldest of three children. He attended the Welcome Public School graduating with the class of 1946. At age 12, he began working construction with his father. After graduation he followed his father’s building tradition and joined in the family business, Rose Construction Company. In 1947, after a three-month courtship, he married DeElda Sickler, a blessed marriage which lasted 71 years. Aldor and DeElda resided in Welcome where they raised their four children, Kathleen, Janet, Steven and Judy. Aldor continued in the family business which included, in addition to his father, his brother Herb and later his son Steven. They built custom homes, custom cabinetry, and farm buildings. In 1973, he became the first building official in Fairmont, Minnesota. He held this position for fifteen years, retiring at the end of 1988. Aldor and DeElda’s early years were spent living in three homes he built in Welcome. The following 44 years they lived in a home he built in Fairmont before moving to Goldfinch Estates in October of 2018. For Aldor, as with his wife DeElda, family and friends were of the utmost importance. He gave of his time and talents. He enjoyed problem solving, creating beautiful homes, furniture, Grandfather clocks, and plant stands, and was able to replicate anything simply by seeing a picture of the item. He was masterful at what he did, but he reveled in the achievements of other woodworkers, always curious and appreciative of their talents. He loved music and some of his very favorite moments were spent with a houseful of friends and family, listening to Glenn on the Clavinova with Millie, Joyce, Jack, Bud and guests alike accompanying. Aldor never met a stranger he could not entertain. He had a wonderful sense of humor and his family and friends never tired of his stories. He was an honest man with an impressive work ethic. In 1983, he was honored to receive the Mechanix Illustrated, “Golden Hammer Award” in recognition of a red-oak hutch and serving cart he had made. Aldor was continually expanding his knowledge through reading, life experiences and traveling. It did not seem there was much he did not have knowledge of. He was an avid card player, and this became the highlight of almost every family get-together. He and DeElda, together, were the most engaging, thoughtful, and fun parents, grandparents, and great grandparents a family could simply ever wish for. Left to cherish his memory are his four children: daughter, Kathleen (David) Van Iten of DeForest, Wisconsin; daughter, Janet (Phil) Verret of Blacklick, Ohio; son, Steven (Jane) of Anoka, Minnesota; and daughter, Judith (Dennis) Mahoney of Wheaton, Illinois; 10 grandchildren: Ben Van Iten, Kristin (Mike) Ferris, Philip Verret (financee’ Erica), Tim Verret, Jeremy (Rachael) Rose, Graham (Krista) Rose, Rayni Pemble, John’s wife, Allyson Mahoney, Grant Mahoney; and Rose (Steven) Anthony; 10 great-grandchildren: Kayla, Amber and Sophia Ferris; Rylee and Henry Rose; Brynn, Brooke, and Bronson Rose; Dennis and Matthew Mahoney; one sister, Viola Pierson; one brother Herb (Jane) Rose; sisters-in-law Zelda Christian and Terri (Greg) Envey, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many loyal and loving friends. Aldor was preceded in death by his wife, DeElda; his parents, Henry and Sophia Rose; grandson, John Mahoney; father and mother-in-law, George and Frances Sickler, brother-in-law Leonard Pierson, and other relatives. Aldor was blessed by the support of so many friends, family, and clergy that we cannot possibly list each individual by name. We, his family, are so thankful for these visits, the memories they provided and the love shown to Aldor .
