William Thomas Sweatt, Sr, age 75, passed away Thursday, August 22 2019, at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill. The visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2019 at the Fort Mill Church of God. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Larry Nivens officiating. The burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens – Cherry Road in Rock Hill. A Fort Mill native, Billy was a son of the late Daniel Oscar and Katherine Milner Sweatt. As a youngster he set up pins in the Fort Mill Bowling Alley then went on to work at Springs Mills as a loom fixer. He later went to work for Westinghouse as a crane operator. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an active member of the Fort Mill Church of God where he was a Sunday school teacher and part of the “Young at Heart” group. Billy is survived by his only son, William “Tony” Thomas Sweatt, Jr., and his wife, Debbie; their sons, Anthony Sweatt and his wife, Bethany and Patrick Sweatt and his wife, Alexis; his sister, Joyce Williams and her children, Keith Williams and Sherry Fox; his sister-in-law, Debbie B. Hudspeth and her husband, Keith; his great-grandchildren Anthony Sweatt, Jr. and Blake Sweatt; and his niece, Christi Butler and her husband, William and their children, Lexi and Harleigh. Memorials may be made to the S.C. Church of God Home for Children, 1810 N.E.
