William J. Manning, Jr., 91, of Canonsburg, formerly North Versailles, died Wednesday, August 28, 2019, in the North Strabane Retirement Village. He was born April 25, 1928 in McKeesport, a son of William J. and Verna Grace Shaw Manning. Bill was a 1945 graduate of East McKeesport High School. Mr. Manning was the owner/operator of the Gulf Service Station first in Turtle Creek and then in Verona. Bill was a member of Valley Lodge #613, Turtle Creek, Valley of Pittsburgh Scottish Rite and the Mystic Shrine. He was a veteran, having served with the US Army during the Korean War. Mr. Manning enjoyed fishing and Civil War history. On July 26, 1955, he married Clara Patricia Cavoto who survives. Also surviving are three children, Lisa Manning (Patrick Pecora) of McMurray, Greig Manning of Whitehall and Karen Manning of McKeesport; and a sister-in-law, Jo Ann Manning of Monroeville. A brother, Donn Manning is deceased. At the request of the deceased there will be no services. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Shrine Hospital for Children, 2900 Rock Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607. Arrangements entrusted to the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342.
