Mr. Vernon Ray “Pete” Carter of Campbellsville was born on July 23, 1936 to the late James and Edna (Pritchard) Carter. He departed this life on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at the Taylor Regional Hospital, being 83 years, 1 month, and 5 days of age. He was a retiree of Greensburg Manufacturing. He married Carolyn Gowen, who preceded him in death. Later he married Mildred Davis, who also preceded him. Mr. Carter enjoyed retirement and was often quoted as “piddling”. He enjoyed tinkering around on his lawnmower and keeping his yard tidy, or just relaxing in front of the TV. He leaves to mourn his passing: Three children: Kenneth Carter, Pat Roution and husband Michael, and Betty Hoosier, all of Campbellsville, Fifteen grandchildren, A host of great-grandchildren, One great-great grandchild, A special friend: Ronnie Van Heck of Campbellsville, And several other family and close friends. He was also preceded in death by two children: Michael David Carter and Shannon Renee Carter; and two siblings: Doyle Carter and Lindsey Carter; and a grandson: Aaron Keltner. There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Carter on Friday, August 30, 2019 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY. Burial will follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, Aug. 30, from 10:00 AM until time for the service.
