Sylvester’s Obituary Sylvester William Asmus, 78, of Chaffee, Mo., peacefully passed away, Friday, Aug. 30, 2019, at his home. He was born Jan. 31, 1941, in Oran, Mo, son of Adam and Frances Wiedefeld Asmus. He and Pauline Griffin were married May 12, 1962. They had been married for 57 years. Sylvester was a graduate of Oran High School. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and its Men’s Club in Chaffee. He was a member of the Guardian Angel Knights of Columbus Council 4311 in Oran, Mo in which he was a past Grand Night. He retired from Do-It Best after working there for over 33 years. Loving survivors include a daughter, Leigh Asmus of Dexter, Mo; two sons, Daniel Asmus of Cape Girardeau and Shawn (Lisa) Asmus of Jackson; Four grandchildren, Jordan, Monica, Kolbe and Ren Asmus of Jackson; one sister, Margie LeGrand of Oran and one sister-law, June (Gus) Asmus of Chaffee. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Alfred Asmus, August Asmus, Clarence Asmus and one sister, Agnes Landewee. Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. Monday September 2, 2019 at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Parish Rosary will be at 7:00 pm followed by K.C. prayer service. Funeral services will be at 10 am Tuesday Sept 3, 2019 at St Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee with Father Randy Tochtrop presiding. Interment will follow in the St. Ambrose Cemetery.
