Nathan Lee Sodek, 30, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2019 in the comfort of his home. Nathan was born to Randy and Vicki Sodek on January 19, 1989. Nathan was a 2007 graduate of Temple High School. He began his law enforcement career as a correctional officer in 2008. He attended the McLennan Community College Law Enforcement Academy. In March 2013, he became an officer for the Rosebud Police Department. He was later a Patrol Sergeant and then appointed interim police chief. He joined the Marlin Police Department in August 2017 as a Criminal Investigation Division detective. On October 18, 2018, he was appointed interim police chief. He was appointed chief of the Marlin Department on November 24, 2018. Nathan had a love of dirt track racing. From racing junior mini to hobby stock, Nathan won numerous races. Nathan raced number 60 in honor of his father and grandfather who raced the number previously. He also loved to spend time with his family and friends, and raising palm trees. Services for Nathan are pending at this time. Nathan is survived by his parents; his grandmother Shirley Uptmor; Carol Whitley; his great grandmother MayBell Lewis; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Nathan is preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Margie Sodek; James Whitley; Dean Gommert; and Laurel Uptmor.
