Joseph’s Obituary Joseph M. Pavich Joseph M. Pavich was born in Berwyn, Illinois on March 19th, 1941. The first-born child of Joseph and Amanda Pavich (née Strilic). He was a graduate of the class of 1959 at Lyons Township High School. Joe served his country for two years as a heavy artillery gun man in the US Army in the Vietnam War. He lived in Brookfield, Illinois for most of his life until he retired to Mesa, Arizona nearly twenty years ago. Joe worked many jobs over his life. He started working at his Uncle’s store as a teenager. He told us that he would carry two 100 pound bags of potatoes, one bag over each of his shoulders, while working at the store. Later he worked at a paper manufacturing company and paint-mixing machinery plant. He also worked as a postman for a short time. Joe was proud that he cared for his mother for six years preceding her death. Joe was a Chicago Bears football and Chicago Cubs baseball fan and later in life an Arizona Diamondbacks baseball fan. He loved music including greats like Elvis, Chuck Barry, and Johnny Cash. Joe enjoyed going to the casinos in Arizona and Laughlin. One of his favorite trips was to the casino in Payson with his dear friend Doris. Joe and Doris particularly enjoyed going on Thursdays because the buffet had the most delicious pot roast they had ever tasted. Joe loved to eat! Prior to having been diagnosed with lung cancer in 2012, Joe loved black pepper on most all of his food. We know Joe is up in heaven eating roasted lamb with a beer and a big piece of his moms flaky apple strudel. On Sunday August 4th, 2019 Joe left this earthly life to go join our Heavenly Father. He was preceded in death by father Joseph Pavich, mother Amanda Pavich, and sister Carol Miller. Joe passed away at the hospital surrounded by his nephew Tommy, his niece Jeanette Sandoval, her husband Nick and their two children, Nicholas and Nicole. Joe will forever be in our hearts and prayers. He is survived by his sister Lucille, brother Paul (Jane), nieces and nephews Annette, Tommy, Jeanette (Nick), Jessica, Amanda (Trevor), Paul (Elaine), Scott (Heather) and Greg (Kathleen) and great-nieces and nephews Nicholas, Jake, Nicole, Carter, Josey Wales, and Gavin, as well as his Uncle Bob and Aunt Dolores, and many cousins. A Private Funeral Service in memory of Joe was held on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Tempe Mortuary 405 East Southern Avenue Tempe, AZ 85282. At a later date, Joe’s ashes will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery of Arizona. The address is 23029 Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ 85024. Arrangements entrusted to Tempe Mortuary. Read More
