Jay Dean’s Obituary Jay Dean Perry Shoemake, 95, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Longmeadow Healthcare Center in Justin, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2019 at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville, Texas with the Rev. Kaye Nations of First United Methodist Church of Denton, officiating. Visitation will precede the service on Friday, August 30, 2019 from 11 to 12 am at DeBerry Funeral Directors, Denton, Texas where the family will gather. Jay Dean was born at her paternal grandparent’s house in San Angelo, Texas to William Homer and Lucile Dean Perry on September 27, 1923. She completed High School in San Angelo, then finished an Associate’s degree at Angelo State University, all before age 19. She married Charles Max Shoemake, a soldier stationed at Goodfellow Air Base, on June 16, 1943 in San Angelo. When they met, she worked as a clerk on base. Most of her work life was spent in the oil and gas industry. She retired in 1988 as Manager, Lease Rentals for Bass Enterprises Production Company in Fort Worth, Texas. She was an over 50 years member of the Order of Eastern Star, a founding member of Richland Hills Riding Club, and once proudly served as President of the Ft Worth Landman’s Association. Jay Dean was a warrior, surviving three different types of cancer in the last twenty-five years of her life; she also graciously dealt with the effects of cardiovascular dementia in her last decade. Jay Dean is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Max, parents, Homer and Lucile Perry, and her brother, William “Bill” Perry. She is survived by three daughters: Janice Lucile Foster and spouse Curtis Foster; Laura Kellar; and Sarah Andrews; four grandchildren: Karen Foster, DDS, Greg Foster and spouse Melissa; Sharon Kellar Seeley and spouse Hayden; and D’Ann Kellar Wagner and spouse Billy. Her great grandchildren are Steven Kellar; Haley Wagner; Kelly, Sarah, and Ginger Foster. Memorials may be given to West Texas Boys Ranch, San Angelo or charity of your choice. Read More
