Gregory R. Snyder, age 72, of Harrisburg, slipped gently from this life on Monday, August 19, 2019, at Hershey Medical Center. A lifelong Civil War buff and avid reader, Greg was born November 10, 1946, in Palmyra, PA, the only child of Ralph Snyder and Kathryn (Felty) Snyder. He served honorably in the US Air Force during Vietnam and then spent his career working for ITT and for the State of Pennsylvania before retiring in 2009. He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Mary A. Callaghan. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three step children: Joseph M Walker of Stafford, VA; Christopher P. Walker (Devan) of Seattle, WA; and Jeanine M. Walker (Steve Mauer) of Seattle, WA. He leaves behind five grandchildren: Rachael Walker of Washington, DC; Josh Walker of Richmond, VA; Grace Walker of Stafford, VA; Vivienne Walker of Seattle, WA; and Callaghan Walker of Seattle, WA. Greg will be honored in a memorial service at Unity Church of Harrisburg, 927 Wertzville Rd, Enola, PA 17025, on Thursday, September 5th at 10:00 AM. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dauphin County Library System.
