Gloria Traini DeFrank, of Carneys Point, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2019 in Christiana Hospital after a short, but valiant, battle with brain cancer. She was 86. Born in Camden, NJ on May 5, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Margaret (DiMarcantonio) Traini. Gloria was a 1950 graduate Penns Grove Regional High School and later attended Goldey-Beacom College. She worked for twelve years as a secretary at the E.I. DuPont Chambers Works site, as the Main Office secretary at St. James Regional Grammar School in Penns Grove, and as a homemaker. Gloria loved to sew and was an excellent seamstress. She provided alterations, outfits and crafts to numerous friends and family members over the years. She had a soft spot for cats, enjoyed watching golf, liked going to the beach, doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and taking trips to Harrah’s Casino. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Her granddaughter, Annemarie, was her pride and joy. Gloria is survived by her husband of 65 years, Joseph; her daughter, Gina Abbott (Charles); her granddaughter, Annemarie Abbott; her sister Elvira (Dolly) Bowe; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Pietro Traini, and brother-in-law, Clarence (Woo) Bowe. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 27 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and again on Wednesday, August 28 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the Ashcraft Funeral Home, 47 State Street, Penns Grove. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 28 at St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish (Corpus Christi Church), 369 Georgetown Rd., Carneys Point. Interment will be at the Salem County Veterans Cemetery, Pilesgrove.
