Floyd’s Obituary Floyd Lucas, 81, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on Thursday, August 22, 2019. Floyd is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Rita Lucas; daughters, Pam (Gary) Owensby and Amy (David) Klesk; son, Eric Lucas; siblings, Steve Lucas and Margo Stevens; three grandchildren, James Barmes, Olivia Klesk, and Chloe Klesk; and two great-grandchildren, Layla and Owen Barmes. Floyd attended Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis and joined the U.S. Army after graduation, serving in the position of Military Police until he was honorably discharged in 1958. Following his military service he began working at Olin Brass where he worked his way up to a senior level position and subsequently retired after 39 years with the company. He was loyal, hardworking and always made sure his family was cared for. Being able to be a provider for his family was what Floyd was most proud of. Floyd had many hobbies including fishing, hunting, trap-shooting, coin collecting and metal detecting (treasure hunting). At one time, he was a professional roller skate dancer and also loved to play poker and chess, of which he was a master. Floyd will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. A funeral service to celebrate Floyd’s life will be held on Monday, August 26 at 12:30pm at the Conkle Funeral Home, Avon chapel. Friends may visit on Monday from 11am until the time of service.
