EVELYN E. HITT Evelyn Elizabeth (Stalnaker) Hitt, 91, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born August 14, 1928, in Pleasant Hill, the daughter of Dillard V. and Elsie May (Franklin) Stalnaker. She departed this life Sunday, August 18, 2019, Autumn Leaves of Lee’s Summit. Evelyn was a 1946 graduate of Pleasant Hill High School and a lifelong member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. On January 1, 1947, she was united in marriage to Leo Harley Hitt in Paola, Kansas. Evelyn was an enthusiastic supporter of the Pleasant Hill Historical Society and an active participant in fund raising events. During 1979 and ’80 Evelyn was an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) and a member of the Pleasant Hill Ambulance crew. She participated in sixty three runs and drove the ambulance thirty one times. Evelyn kept a journal of every ambulance run logging the date, the patient’s name, their condition, and the EMTs involved in the run. In her own words: “I have enjoyed being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. I have a great family and love every one of you.” Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband Leo; brother, Edward J. Stalnaker; sisters Mary O. “Dolly” Macrae and Eileen M. Mitchell. She is survived by three children; John Allen Hitt of Lee’s Summit, MO; Linda Marie (son-in-law Dan) Wilson of Kansas City, MO; and Timothy Gilbert (daughter-in-law Daphne) Hitt of Pleasant Hill, MO; three grandchildren, Jeff (wife Lynne) Wilson of Kansas City, MO, Kimberly Wilson of Kansas City, Kansas, and Savannah (husband Chris) Webber of Pleasant Hill, MO; six great grandchildren, Taylor, Haley, Nick, Joe, Remi, and Esme; brother-in-law, Douglas T. Hitt of Lee’s Summit, MO; other relatives; and a host of many friends. Visitation will be held 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 22, 2019, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 22, 2019 at the funeral home. Pastor James Stanfield-Myers will officiate. Interment will be the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Pleasant Hill Meals on Wheels and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
