Edward S. Bakun, 76, of Hamilton, NJ, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2019, at home, surrounded by his loving family. The greatness of a man’s life is not in the wealth he acquired or the power he possessed, but in the hearts that he touched as he passed through this world. For those of us who called him husband, dad, pop-pop, uncle, cousin and friend, our lives are richer for having been touched by his loving and caring heart, humble and stoic spirit, his wisdom and his quiet soul. We will forever be grateful for the memories we hold within our hearts. Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong area resident. Edward honorably served his country in the United States Navy. He worked as a Supervising IT Project Manager for the State of NJ. He was a longtime member of St. Gregory the Great RC Church and was a member of the Notre Dame Alumni Association. Ed loved to be outdoors any chance he could, especially around his home in Hamilton and whenever he visited his family in California. He enjoyed watching all sports, especially baseball. His favorite times were spent with his family, most of all with his four beautiful granddaughters. He was their #1 cheerleader at their swim meets and would certainly keep them focused and cherished the times watching them. Predeceased by his parents, Stanley and Stella Bakun; he is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Marion J. Bakun; his son, Bill Bakun; his daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Alan Levin; his granddaughters, Stacia, Liliana, Annelise and Emilia Levin; his brothers-in-law, Fred (Judy) Wszolek and Ron (Lynn) Wszolek; his close nephew, Timothy Sinkewicz; his aunt, Genevieve Montague; and his nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will begin on Wednesday, August 21, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 21, 2019, at 11:30 am at St. Gregory the Great Roman Catholic Church, 4620 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ 08690. Interment will be private. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2019, from 9:00 am until 10:30 am at the Saul Colonial Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Edward’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or American Cancer Society by visiting In Memory Of at inmemof.org.
