Funeral services for Dorothy Martin, 81, of Lexington, Texas, are scheduled for 10:30 am on Monday, September 2, 2019 at Lexington Faith Temple in Lexington with Pastor Jim Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Lexington Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 1, 2019 from 9:00 am until 8:00 pm at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Lexington. Dorothy Laverne (Robbins) Martin was born on January 23, 1938 in Lexington, Texas to Talbert H. and Jessie (Thornton) Robbins. She was baptized in 1975 at Calvary Baptist Church in Gardendale. Growing up everybody knew her as “Punkin”, and many people still know her as that. Dorothy married Randal Martin on June 11, 1965 in Houston. Their marriage was blessed with five children – Clifton, Bill, Richard, Debbie, and Elizabeth. She worked at Dr. Mazel’s office as an administrative assistant and an Agent and at Wright Insurance Agency in Lexington for many years. Dorothy served as the secretary at Lexington Faith Temple and was involved in many other community events. She enjoyed reading, cooking, attending ice cream suppers, and listening to country and gospel music. Her grandson, Cliff Cody, also made music that she loved to listen to. Her greatest joy came from her family. She enjoyed attending family reunions and taking care of her family. She had a quick wit and found joy in making people laugh. Her grandchildren will miss her dearly as they loved spending time with her. Dorothy passed away the morning of Friday, August 30, 2019 at CHI St. Joseph Health Regional Hospital in Bryan. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Talbert L. Robbins, and brother-in-law, Buddy Stamport. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Randal Martin of Lexington; five children, Clifton & Bonnie Tucker of San Antonio, Bill & Sharon Tucker of Lexington, Richard & Julie Tucker of Lexington, Debbie Anderson of California, and Elizabeth & Michael Schaefer of Pearland; fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley & Charlie Stamport of Lexington, Vera Mae Stamport of Lexington, and Frances & Willie Shelton of Lexington, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members. Serving as pallbearers will be Jared Schaefer, Kyle Schaefer, Steven Schaefer, Dylan Schaefer, Jesse Tucker, Michael Kelly Jr., Randal Kelly, and Randy Elrod.
