Dorothy M. Griffiths 1921-2019 West Winfield Dorothy M. Griffiths, 97, of West Winfield, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital. She was born on November 15, 1921 in West Winfield, the daughter of Charles and Nora (Calder) Marriott and graduated from West Winfield Central School. On July 24, 1942 Dorothy was united in marriage to Hugh J. Griffiths in North Columbia, NY and shared a blessed union of 44 years until his passing on October 21, 1986. She was employed with Hiteman Leather Co. and later with Duofold until her retirement in 1984. Dorothy loved to crochet and made afghan blankets for the whole family, especially the babies. She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, canning vegetables, reading and attending the grandchildren’s sporting events. Dorothy also loved to travel to go camping with her husband and family. Surviving are her daughters, Judy Beach, Leonardsville and Ann Roth, West Edmeston; sons, Ronald (Barbara) Griffiths, Burlington Flats and Ralph (Janet) Griffiths, Leonardsville; grandchildren, Shelly (Dale) Brown, Brian (Maryjo) Griffiths, Ray (Danielle) Beach, Brenda, Beach, Christopher (Mandy) Roth, Doug (Mallory) Roth, Kelly (Doug) Rogers, Angela (Boe) Martin, Brad (Nicole) Griffiths, Carrie Roth and Debbie Beach; 19 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren; sisters, Louise Holmes, Helen “Emma” O’Connor, Margaret “Iva” (Frank) Lewis and Beverly (Joe) Szewczyk; brothers, Warren (Miriam) Marriott and John Marriott; sister-in-law, Celia Marriott and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Lawrence Roth, sisters, Lorraine, Frances, Mildred “Myra” and Mary Eleanor Phillips and brothers, William, Melvin, Owen and Franklin. Dorothy’s family wishes to extend their gratitude to special neighbors and friends, Rosemary, Lloyd and Linda. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, from 10 am to 12 pm at Dimbleby Funeral Homes, Inc., 365 West Main St., West Winfield. Funeral services will commence at the conclusion of visitation at 12 pm. Interment will be in West Winfield Cemetery. Remembrances in Dorothy’s name may be made to the West Winfield Ambulance, Bridgewater Ambulance or the Unadilla Fire Company. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
