Alvis E’s Obituary Funeral services for Mr. Alvis E. Smith will begin at 11:00 am Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home chapel with the Reverend James Ruffin officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Mr. Smith, 90, of Meridian, passed away Monday, August 26, 2019 at Poplar Springs Nursing Center in Meridian. Mr. Al was a man with a servant’s heart; he was also a faithful member of Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church. Mr. Smith is survived by his children, Al Smith, Jr. (Joan), Judy Doyle, Rita McClure (John); 7 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. Mr. Al is preceded in death by the love of his life for over 70 years, Bernice Smith; parents, DeWitt and Lessie Elizabeth Smith; brothers, Dick Smith and Gary Smith. The family suggest memorials be made to the Lauderdale County Baptist Association Crisis Center or Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.
