Warren was born on October 25, 1939 in the small town of Des Arc, Arkansas as the sixth child of Gilbert and Eleanor Harvey. He grew up in a Christian family in rural Des Arc, and as a child was often found caring for small animals such as baby squirrels and his pet goat. One of his fondest memories in childhood was riding on the backs of the Clydesdales as his father took lumber to the local mill. Warren graduated from Des Arc High School in spring of 1957, then enlisted in the US Army. Warren served overseas in Germany as a part of the reconstruction effort. He spent his time assisting in the rebuilding of bridges and local infrastructure after the end of World War II. Upon returning from his tour of duty, Warren proposed to local sweetheart Becky Lendermon out by the bayou, having met her the year before at his sister’s wedding. The romantic moment came as a surprise to Becky, but the large snake that came to investigate Warren’s car came as the biggest surprise of the evening. He married Becky on June 17, 1961 at Lakeside Baptist Church in Des Arc, and the two of them would spend their first 18 years of marriage in Little Rock, Arkansas. Warren would often work multiple jobs to provide for his family. At one point Warren worked directly for William Dillard, founder of Dillard’s department stores. Dillard was so impressed by Warren’s work ethic that he provided him the reference needed to begin a career in computer programming. Warren and Becky had two children together in Little Rock, David Warren and Shelley Denise. With his son he continued the naming tradition of passing along the middle name “Warren” to the eldest male child, which spans three generations currently. In early 1979 Warren took a new job working with computers in Dallas, TX. Warren would commute from Little Rock for work, until on April 12, 1979 the family packed up their Chevy truck and moved to Plano, TX where they have lived for the past 40 years. After several years in Texas, Warren struck out on his own and opened his own auto service shop in the 1990s. Warren would remain in business for himself until retirement. Warren was a devoted husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed traveling with his wife in their RV, once to Hawaii, and on a cruise. His favorite past time of fishing is a love he took care to pass on to his children and grandchildren. Warren was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert T. and Mary Eleanor Harvey, and siblings Norma Lee Churchwell, Sue Harris, and Gilbert (GB). He is survived by his wife of 58 years Becky and their son David, his wife Cindy, and their five children Jonathan, Rachael, Sarah her husband Sean and their daughter Harper, Katie, and Matthew; their daughter Shelley, her husband Philip and son Jake. He is also survived by his siblings Charles, Shirley Taylor, and Jeane Martz. A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at Meadows Baptist Church, 3001 Los Rios Blvd, Plano, Texas from 4:00 – 6:00 PM. A funeral service will be held Monday, July 15, 2019 at Meadows Baptist Church at 2:00 Pm and a burial to follow at Pecan Grove Cemetery in McKinney, Tx.
