Mr. Hugh Stanley Allen, age 67, of Toccoa, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at his home. Born July 30, 1952 in Royston, he was the son of the late Hugh Dorsey and Edna Merle (Adams) Allen. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Prior to retirement, he was a machinist with Standard Register. Mr. Allen was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents: and a sister: Deborah Powers. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Angie and Ricki Shedd of Red Hill; son and daughter-in-law: Chris and Sandra Allen of Lavonia; grandchildren: Jessica & Brandon Bohannon, Brian Shedd, Brannon Shedd, Courtney & Kal Tucker, and Andrew & Audrey Payne; great grandchildren: Alice & Linux Johnson, Matt Tucker, Briar Bohannon and Emma Payne; brother: Wayne Allen; sister and brother-in-law: Dianne and Eddie Hart. The memorial service, with military honors, will be held 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 4, 2019 at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia with Rev. Jerrell Beatty officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the service. Mr. Allen was cremated in accordance with his request.
