Shirley Marlow, 70, of Burbank, CA formerly of the LaPrairie, IL area died June 1, 2019 in her home. She was born on October 24, 1948 in Quincy, IL to Wilson and Ruth Perry Marlow. She graduated from Central High School, Western Illinois University and the University of Illinois. Shirley had been employed with many newspapers over the years and retired from the LA Times. She is survived by her sister, Mary Hedrick of Aledo, IL, two nephews; Mike (Mary) Hedrick and Paul (Kay) Hedrick of Aledo, IL, seven great nieces and nephews and four great-great nieces and nephews, two aunts; Alberta Hudson of Moline, IL and Pauline Mauback of New Berlin, IL and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and a niece, Terri Hedrick. Cremation has been accorded. A memorial visitation will be held from 11:30 to 1:00 pm Friday July 19, 2019 at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL. Burial will follow at Mt. Horeb cemetery near LaPrairie, IL. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation. The Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL is handling arrangements.
