Shawn’s Obituary Born December 2, 1972 in Moab, UT, Shawn Leon Spring began a life of passion. He utilized that passion through childhood, school, and sports, especially basketball. He was courageous in developing his own individuality, living life his own way, and developed a personality that had a way of touching people’s lives. Shawn graduated from Grand County High School. After high school, Shawn went to school for radio communications and broadcasting. Thus, Shawn’s alter ego was born, Tommy Cage. Though not a superhero alter ego, Tommy Cage was still able to bring joy into people’s lives through his wit, sarcasm, humor, and musical programming. But what really sparked inside him occurred during the many family weekends spent camping in the La Sal Mountains. There Shawn developed a passion unrivaled for hunting and public lands. In 2002, the best pieces of Shawn were all put in the form of his son, Kolby. Shawn’s unyielding love for his son was clear to anyone who knew him. In 2009, Shawn met his eternal partner and love of his life, Chari. They married in November 2009 and were sealed for time and eternity in the Saint George temple. Shawn’s unique personality and talent for touching people’s lives took him to a career of working with special needs people. He truly loved his clients and the work he did for them. But what he loved most was the connection he made with each of them individually. On July 26, 2019, Shawn peacefully passed away after being called back to the mountains one last time. He is survived by his eternal companion Chari, his son Kolby, his bonus kids Jayde and Nash, his parents Steve and Kathy, two brothers Steven and Scott, and his sister Steph. He is also survived by an enormous extended family and uncountable friends. The family extends their gratitude and appreciation to the doctors and staff of Cedar City Hospital Intensive Care Unit for the care they provided to Shawn. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Enoch 2nd Ward Building (451 East Midvalley Road Enoch, UT) with a viewing prior to the service from 9-10:30 am. A viewing will also be held Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at Southern Utah Mortuary (190 N. 300 W. Cedar City, Ut) from 6-8 pm under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
