Rucker Wheelis October 13, 1945 – July 29, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guestbook Entries| Send Sympathy Card Mr. Rucker Wheelis, 73, a resident of Union City, died Monday, July 29, 2019, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday at White-Ranson Funeral Home with Dr. Cecil Sewell officiating. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 am until time of service Thursday. Pallbearers will be Scott Denaburg, Shannon Beaman, James Whaley, Brennen Whaley, Connor Whaley and David Abshire. Honorary Pallbearers will be Johnny Quinton, William Reese and Frank Johnson. Mr. Wheelis was born October 13, 1945, in Mayfield, KY., son of the late Rucker Wheelis, Sr. and Wanda May (Green) Wheelis. He married Sherry Elaine (Hill) Wheelis November 4, 1977. She survives. He was retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., a member of First Baptist Church in Union City, United Steel Workers, a Mason and served in the Unites States Army. He is survived by his wife, Sherry Wheelis of Union City; two sons, Chuck (Alicia) Wheelis of Troy and Greg (Dara) Whaley of Bogalusa, LA.; one daughter-in-law, Regina Whaley of Union City; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Dena Wheelis and Nora McClure both of Granite City, IL.; one niece, Karen (Scott) Denaburg of Medina, TN. He is preceded in death by one son, Danny Whaley; two brothers, Charles McBride and Johnny Wheelis; two sisters, Freda Persich and Cleda Reilly. The family has requested that memorials be sent to First Baptist Church in Union City.
