Robert L. Beekman, 77, formerly of Kellogg Rd., Cortland, passed away unexpectedly on July 18, 2019 at the Guthrie Cortland Regional Rehabilitation Facility. Bob was born November 8, 1941 in Liberty Township, OH, a son of the late Elija and Minnie Mae Jackson Beekman. He was employed for several years at Brockway Motors and retired from Saulsbury Fire Apparatus, Preble. Bob was a true outdoorsman, he loved to hunt and fish, and was also an auto enthusiast. Surviving are his two daughters, Brenda JB Stone of Tully and Janie B. Wilson (Epi Hernandez) of Key West, FL; six brothers and sisters; four grandchildren, Ashlynn and Austin Stone of Tully; Shane Wilson of Skaneateles, Shannon (Luke) Seaward of Truxton; a great grandson, Finn Seaward; several nieces and nephews; and was predeceased by three brothers. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2019 at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 US Route 11, Homer. Interment will follow in East Homer Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral. Memorial contributions in Mr. Beekman’s name may be directed to Cortland County Meals on Wheels, 60 Central Ave., Cortland, NY 13045.
