Philip Frederic Heminger, 70, of La Porte, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at La Porte Hospital and Health Services. Philip was born in La Porte, IN, on October 19, 1948 to Frederic and Kay (Banis) Heminger. On September 7, 1968 in New Carlisle, IN, he married Kathy Bennitt who survives. Also surviving are his sister, Patricia Forler of Phoenix, AZ; sister-in-laws, Sandy Chimento of San Antonio, TX and Arlene (Fred) Martin of La Porte; nieces, Lisa (Cindy) Roddy of New Carlisle, Lorri (Doyal) Momon of Rydal, GA, Lynda Sorenson of San Antonio, TX, Amanda (Sergiu) Bec of Tucson, AZ, and Krista (Jamie) Hentschel of Wheatfield; nephew, Jim (Michelle) Bennitt of La Porte; and special fur baby, Jayden Rose. He was preceded in death by his parents and in laws, James and Norma Bennitt. Philip was a crane operator for the steel industry. Philip enjoyed Cubs baseball, Slicer baseball and family. A Celebration of Life Service with full military honors will be held at 4 pm on July 20, 2019 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Jeff Zigler officiating with cremation to follow. A time of visitation will be held from 1 pm until the time of the service at 4 pm Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will take place at a later date.
