2019
Pearl (Perina) Frances (Felando) Morgan passed away on July 25, 2019 at home surrounded by family. Pearl was born on October 27, 1921, in San Pedro, CA, to Andrija and Margarita (Mardesich) Felando. Pearl was raised and lived in San Pedro. She attended Fifteenth Street Elementary School, Mary Star of the Sea and graduated from San Pedro High School in 1939. Then, on to work as a legal secretary at French Sardine Cannery. With her husband, Paul Morgan, they operated Morgan’s Liquor at 3rd & Center from early 1940’s to 1979, when Urban Renewal forced them to start again at San Pedro Farms on Beacon Street. They then took over the Busy Bee Market with their daughter, Sharon. Golf beckoned, and Pearl and Paul retired from many years in retail. After a few years, the ever energetic Pearl took on a new career to maintain membership and handicap records at Big Rec Golf. This gave Pearl opportunities to sharpen her golf skills, getting three holes in one, with one in tournament play! After her second retirement at 89 years of age, she had time to read every large print mystery book at San Pedro Public Library, and complete several crossword puzzles each day. Pearl was sharp and clever to the end. Pearl is survived by her daughters, Sharon Morgan and Paula Morgan, grandchildren John (Susan), Robert and Cynthia Ridgway, great grandchildren Madison Anderson, Amanda (Skylar) Stanford, and Sarah, Steven and Katie Ridgway. Pearl is also blessed with many loving nieces and nephews who were especially close, including John (Judy) Lukin, Janice (Andy) Sieber, Judy Ritchie, Karen (Bob) Jacklin, Caryl (Gary) Miller, Cheryl Watson, and Tim (Kim), Ted, and Mike Ursich. And special thanks to Louis Kirtades, who treated Pearl like his own mother. Pearl is predeceased by siblings Andy, Nick and John Felando, and Kay Kinkead. Services will include a Mass at Mary Star of Sea Catholic Church, 7th & Meyler, San Pedro, CA, at 10:30 AM, Friday, August 2, 2019. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to your favorite charity, or to Providence Trinitycare Hospice Foundation, 5315 Torrance Blvd, Ste B-1, Torrance, CA 90503, or to Orange Coast Medical Center Foundation, 18111 Brookhurst Street, Suite 4100, Fountain Valley, CA 92708
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Pearl Frances Morgan 2019.
