Norman Lee Tilley July 02, 1944 – July 11, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation Norman Lee Tilley, 75, of Du Quoin, passed away at 4:35 a.m., Thursday, July 11, 2019, at Carbondale Memorial Hospital. Norman was a broker and owner of Gold Team Incorporated Realtors of Du Quoin. He had also retired from the Zeigler Coal Company. Norman was a member of the UMWA, and a member and past president of the Egyptian Board of Realtors. He was of the protestant faith. Norman was born July 2, 1944, in Du Quoin, Illinois, the son of John Morris and Reathel (Morrisey) Tilley. He married Janice E. Swisher on April 13, 1972, at the Christian Church in Mulkeytown, Illinois, and she survives. Norman is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, two sons – Steven Gray of Du Quoin and John Tilley and wife Samantha of Joliet, eight grandchildren – Ryan, Taylor, Desi and husband Tim, Kody, Chloe, Hunter, Emily and Sallee, two brothers – Clyde Tilley of St. Anne, IL and George Tilley and wife Lori of Du Quoin, two sisters – Joyce Haggard of Du Quoin and Jackie Carter of Mulkeytown, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and one brother. Funeral services will be held at the Gospel Assembly Church in Du Quoin on Sunday, July 14, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., with Brother Bill Hamburger officiating. Friends may call Saturday, July 13, 2019, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin, and on Sunday morning from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at Gospel Assembly Church. Burial will be in the Old DuQuoin Cemetery in Du Quoin. Friends may make memorials to American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer or The Mulkeytown Grade School and will be accepted at the church or funeral home.
