John J. Sabourin, 86 of Watertown passed away on Monday, July 1, 2019 at his home surrounded by family. John was born on August 27, 1932 in Milwaukee the son of Joseph and Eleanore (Reichard) Sabourin. John married Mary Hillebrand on October 26, 1957 and the couple was blessed with 61 years of marriage before her death on December 26, 2018. John proudly served our country in the United States Army for 2 years before being honorably discharged for being wounded by mortar fire in the Korean War. Medals he received were Purple Heart, UNSvc- National Defense SVC, and Good Conduct Medal. John was a volunteer at St. Vincent’s DePaul and Marquardt. In his free time he enjoyed shooting pool and playing cards, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. John is survived by his sons Paul Sabourin of Montello and Michael Sabourin of Hartland. 5 grandchildren: Nick, Adam (Rachel), Aaron (Melissa), Amisha, Tayler, and 7 great-grandchildren. 4 brothers and 2 sisters. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary, loving daughter Christine, 6 brothers and 2 sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Watertown with Fr. Miro Szynal presiding. Visitation will take place at the church at 10am until the time of service. John will be laid to rest at St. Henry’s Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Memorials in John’s honor to St. Henry’s Catholic Church would be appreciated.
