James H. “Sonny” Starnes June 05, 1931 – July 21, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card James H. “Sonny” Starnes, 88, of Pell City, AL passed away July 21, 2019. Sonny was a former long-time member and Elder of First Christian Church and present member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Pell City. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Pell City, veteran of the US Navy, also a 1949 graduate of Bessemer High School. He was a loving husband, devoted father and proud PaPa. Sonny was preceded in death by his sister, Eloise Adams. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Starnes; his sons, James H. “Howie” Starnes, III and Kyle G. Starnes; his daughter, Jan (Mike) Rutledge; his grandchildren, Lane (Kelly), Justin (Constance), Jeremy (Tabatha) and Lyndsey; great grandchildren, Logan, Jake, Everett and Violet; Brother-in-law, Danny (Nadine) Campbell and several nieces and nephews and extended loving family and friends. Funeral service will be Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Bessemer Brown Service Funeral Home with burial following at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Bro. Chris Beck will be officiating the service. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
