He was born March 26, 1924 in Dover Indiana where he grew up on a farm along with 2 brothers and 6 sisters. He is the beloved husband of the late Rosemary Witt, (nee Zimmer); father of Stephanie (Jim) Larkin, Debbie (Les) Wibberley, Eric (Tracy) Witt; grandfather of Brian (Nichole) Larkin, Chad (Susan) Larkin, Aaron (Laura) Wibberley, Ben (Erica) Wibberley, Morgan Witt and Fiancé Austin Hottle; great-grandfather of Tate and Mclaren Larkin, Ava and Tessa Larkin; brother of sister Rosemary Witt; sister-in-law, Wilma Witt and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Jim lived a full, rich life to the very end. He was well known for his kindness, generosity and his ~ quick Witt. He served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946 as a Harbor Control signal man in Pearl Harbor. He was a successful business owner and community leader who positively impacted the lives of everyone he met. He owned and operated Weldon and Witt Implement Company with his partner Bernard Weldon selling International Harvester farm equipment for more than 50 years. Jim was very active in his community of Germantown. He served as board chairman for Germantown First National Bank, and served on the Germantown Zoning Committee and the Saint Augustine Catholic Church council. He loved sitting on his back deck, watching the birds and deer in his yard and talking with friends and neighbors who stopped by to sit and listen to his numerous stories. Jim will be greatly missed, but certainly never forgotten. The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice of Butler and Warren County for their kind and compassionate care of our Dad; and the many friends and family for their love and support. At Jim’s request, his body has been donated to the Boonshoft School of Medicine at Wright State University. A Memorial Mass will be held 11:30 a.m., Friday August 2, 2019 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 6931 Weaver Rd., Germantown, with Fr. Francis Tandoh Celebrating. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Germantown Rescue Squad, St. Augustine Church, or Hospice of Butler and Warren County.
