She was the oldest of nine siblings and was preceded in death by her twin brother Grover “Pete”, and also her younger brothers, Julius “Cecil”, Ronnie, and Bobby Corbin. Gloria was educated in the Atlanta Public School System. She graduated from the historic Booker T. Washington High School in 1965 and she remained an active alumni supporter until her death. She later attended Morris Brown College. At an early age, Gloria joined Greater Springfield Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend O.C. Woods, where she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior. She remained a dedicated member and became a part of the Women’s Ministry #1 and The Pastor’s Aid Ministry. She was also instrumental in the development of the church’s 1st Senior Prom, that will now be held annually in August. On September 25, 1971, Gloria married Sgt. Willie D. Cameron, affectionately known as W.D., and from their union 3 children were born…Donald, Jasper, and Donna. W.D. was killed in February of 1987 in the line of duty working as an Atlanta Police officer. Gloria worked tirelessly for Grady Health Systems for 38 years. Her passion for helping others was fulfilled there until she retired in 2007. After retirement, she took full advantage of being able to support her grandchildren. She enjoyed volunteering at their schools, providing services to non-profit organizations, serving her community and church, as well as cooking meals and allowing everybody to enjoy them. On July 11, 2019, Gloria Jean heard the sweet voice of Jesus and passed away at Piedmont Hospital, surrounded by family. Gloria leaves to cherish her memories with her sons, Donald “Eric” and Jasper Cameron; her daughter, Donna T. Cameron; five grandchildren, Adonnas, Ayonna, Aloria, Aria, and Kori Cameron; two brothers, Scotty (Francine) and Daryl Corbin; two sisters, Paula McCurdy (Keith) and Darlene Thrower; two sisters-in-law, ImoGene Fry and Wanda Sue McNeal; one brother-in-law, Leon Cameron; three uncles, David Woods (Betty), James Woods (RouJean) and Bernard Garrett; two aunts, Alethia McKenzie and Odessa Woods; a plethora of nieces, nephews, cousins, GOD children, and friends.
