Wilson – Home Going services for Mrs. Florence “Florene” Seba (Avant) Winn Parker, 99, is scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, July 26, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Wilson with Rev. Jason Langley and Rev. Mark Fuller officiating. Interment will follow at the Bomar Point Cemetery. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson. Florene was born May 4, 1920 at Sallisaw to the late Mr. Thomas William Avant and Mrs. Ethel Maude (Nobles) Avant. She departed this life Tuesday July 23, 2019 at her home in Wilson. Florene was raised in Checotah attending school there. Upon her high school graduation she moved to Tulsa to join the World War II efforts by working for Douglas Aircraft. There she wired electrical components in the tail wing, being small enough to fit in the small area. Florene married Mr. George LeRoy Winn at Checotah and they were blessed with a daughter. LeAnn. They relocated to the Wilson area following his employment with Citi Service. George sadly passed away in 1957. A number of years later she would marry Mr. Albert C. Parker on Dec. 2, 1961. Albert’s, wife had previously passed away leaving him with three children, Carol Ann, Richard and Robert. They became a united family immediately, residing at their home in Hallsville, a suburb of Wilson. Later in life they welcomed a baby sister, Mary into the home and their was family was complete. Florene and Albert worked together for many years at what was then “Pratt’s Grocery” within the meat department. They continued to work there together until their retirement from what is now known as Super C mart which is still in operation. Florene always enjoyed being a homemaker making improvements and canning. She really enjoyed doing her household chores and being a housewife. Florene was always very active within the First Baptist Church of Wilson. She has been an active member of this church for 65 years. Albert preceded her in death on August 1, 1996. Florene continued to live within their home always as the homemaker, but has longed for the day that God would call her to her eternal home. There we are assured she was met by many loved ones longing for her presence. She will be missed for her love, her kindness, her exquisite dill pickles, her fried chicken and her morning oat meal. Also preceding her in death are her parents, and brothers, Albert and Alvin. Survivors include her children, Mary Parker of Ada; LeAnn Winn Hodges of Ardmore, Carol Ann O’Neal of Paris, TX, Richard Parker and wife Vickie of Norman and Robert Parker and wife Bonnie of Ardmore; grandchildren, Shelbey Estes and husband Bart, Blakeley Franz, Thomas Craig Bryant, Ryan Winn Hodges, Shane Covington and wife Kat, Kari Haynes and husband Rowdy, Shelly Test and husband Rob, Kelly King and husband Ron, Rodney Parker and Angie Parker; 18 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; nephews, Mike Avant and Gary Avant; numerous other family, church family and friends.
