Faye Evelyn Jackson LeBlanc, 80 of Appalachia, passed away July 23, 2019 at the hospital. Through her declining health, Faye was able to maintain her independent life with the assistance of her siblings, Barbara Sue and Bryan. She was born in Wise County, VA on December 7, 1938, the oldest child of William Curtis Jackson and Ruth Mumpower Jackson. After high school graduation, Faye explored life in various southern cities as an independent young woman until a stranger asked her to dance at a YMCA social in Knoxville, TN. Faye would marry the stranger, Ralph Leger LeBlanc on October 8, 1960. The two were married for 54 years until his death on March 17, 2015. As a modern working woman, Faye’s career spanned more than five decades finishing with retirement from United Central. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Appalachia Chapter No. 26, Professional Secretaries International, United Methodist Woman, and Modern Woodman where she served as Activities Coordinator. Faye was a member of the Appalachia United Methodist Church where she found comfort and support after the death of her husband. She could often be found in the kitchen cooking for her family. Faye was preceded in death by her parents, William Curtis Jackson and Ruth Elizabeth Mumpower Jackson and brother, William C. Jackson. She is survived by daughter, Pamela LeBlanc Swiney and husband, Rodney W. Swiney; two grandsons, Caleb Leger Swiney and Micah Walker Swiney of Dallas, GA; three siblings, Barbara Sue Walters and husband, Dr. Gary Walters of Johnson City, TN, Robert Jackson, Sr. of Troy, NC, and Bryan M. Jackson of Appalachia, VA; nephew, Robert Jackson, Jr. and wife Angela Jackson along with sons Isaac, Samuel and Luke of Indian Trail, NC.; niece, Laura Walters Price and husband, Jeff Price along with children Olivia and Jackson of Monroe, VA. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 3rd from 6 to 8 pm at the Roy A. Green Funeral Home in Appalachia. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 4th at 2pm with Rev. David Rose officiating at the Appalachia United Methodist Church. The interment will follow at the American Legion Cemetery in Big Stone Gap, VA.
