MOCKSVILLE – Mrs. Estelle Allen Smith, 89, died Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville. She was born June 6, 1929, in Davie County, to the late Wesley C. and Flora Phelps Allen. Mrs. Smith was a lifetime member of Redland Pentecostal Church in Advance. She graduated from Mocksville High School and later married George E. Smith. Mrs. Smith retired from Mocksville Insurance Agency. She enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint and working in her flowers. Her passion for the research and genealogy and the knowledge she retained was a special interest to all. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, an infant daughter; a grandson, Shannon; a brother, Clarence Allen; three sisters, Edna Long, Ellen Sain and Elizabeth Teague; two nephews, Steve Teague and Frankie Allen; and one niece, Rebecca Long Day. Survivors include a son, George Michael Smith (Kathy); three grandchildren, Shanda Sechrest (Jonathan), Shane Hartness and Blake Smith (Shirlena); seven great-grandchildren, Cameron, Skylar, M.J., Jaxon, Lana, Lillie and Layla. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 1, at Redland Pentecostal Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be considered for Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
