Dorcas Ann Kersh Peterson was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to Rev. William Werner Kersh and Dorcas Elizabeth Edna Slack Kersh, both of Hartford, Arkansas. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, William Hilliard “Pete” Peterson. She was a long time member of Riverland Hills Baptist Church. Dorcas’ gift for music was evident to all who had the privilege of hearing her play the piano and sing. In her 83 years she felt blessed to have the opportunity to accompany countless schools, community groups, church choirs, nursing home ministries, soloists, weddings and revivals. Dorcas is survived by her children, David Peterson of Irmo, Emily (Chuck) Jones of Steamboat Springs, CO; one sister-in-law Mrs. Owen (Hazel) Kersh; six grandchildren: Levi, Tyler, Lyndsey, Danny, Kersh and Megan; and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 29 at 11am at Riverland Hills Baptist Church. Family visitation will be at 10 am in the sanctuary prior to the service.
